According to his autobiography Ray actually did work in some graphics art workplace in his teens. Rather than leading to any sort of promising step up in graphic art and design, he mostly just made tea for the office. Needless to say that didn't last long.

Ray was pretty perceptive as I doubt that he ever spent a day ' 9 to 5' in an office - lucky bastard!
